Understanding Coverage & Costs

We understand that families want to know the cost of care before booking.
Thrive Lactation & Wellness is an out-of-network provider.
Depending on your insurance plan, you may be eligible for partial or full reimbursement for lactation services.

The best way to confirm your coverage is to contact the member services number on the back of your insurance card and ask about out-of-network lactation counseling using the billing codes listed below:

Common Lactation Billing Codes

S9943 - Lactation counseling, non-physician provider

Common Diagnosis Codes

Z39.1 – Encounter for care and examination of a lactating mother

R63.31 – Feeding difficulties

Please note: The codes listed below are provided for reference only. Coverage and reimbursement vary by plan and are not guaranteed.

Payment, Superbills & Reimbursement

To make the process as simple as possible, we collect a credit or debit card at the time of booking. HSA and FSA cards are accepted. Following your visit, the card on file will be securely charged for the services provided.

After your appointment, you will receive a detailed superbill that includes the billing codes needed to submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.

The Benefits of Flexible, Out-of-Network Lactation Care

Choosing an out-of-network lactation provider means you receive comprehensive and individualized care without the wait or time constraints often imposed by insurance-contracted systems.
At Thrive Lactation, care is not rushed. We take time to fully understand your feeding goals, address complex and evolving concerns, and provide thoughtful education and guidance.

Working with an out-of-network provider allows for continuity of care.
Families are able to work with the same provider throughout their feeding journey, from prenatal preparation through postpartum follow-up.

Most families find the out-of-network model offers greater choice and flexibility leading to clearer guidance and increased confidence during the early postpartum period because the focus remains on the unique needs of their family rather than satisfying rigid insurance checklists.
